Welcome to Avily
Your roster, crew connections and travel memories in one place.
TestFlight guide · October 2026
This guide covers Avily’s latest beta features. Your TestFlight version may show different labels or may not yet include every change. Features depend on your airline, role, membership and available roster data.
Your first five minutes
Refresh dashboard times: Avily keeps the dashboard snapshot when you open another screen or return from the background. Live synchronized changes continue to update. Pull down to refresh when you want time-based sections such as Up Next and Recent recalculated.
Dashboard badges: My Friends combines unread messages and incoming friend requests. My Marketplace shows new offers, and My Layovers can show newly discovered layover countries.
Open help in Avily: tap the question-mark button on the dashboard for Avily Help and the Getting Started guide. My Layovers and training event details also link directly to their relevant help topics.
Switch schedule layouts: My Roster is the roster-board view, while My Events is the chronological list. Both show the same stored schedule data.
Search your roster: from My Roster or My Events, tap the magnifying-glass button. Choose Airport, Flight or Crew, enter at least three characters, then tap Search or the keyboard Search key. Airport searches departure and destination codes, Flight searches flight numbers, and Crew searches names and staff IDs across matching events stored on your device. A search started from My Roster opens its results in My Events; tap Roster to return to the board. Clear or cancel to leave search.
What does the M button on my roster mean? The M button marks an imported AIMS memo for that day. Tap it to read the available text. Imported memos are read-only and are shown only on the roster board, not in flight or training details. If AIMS marks a memo but supplies no text, Avily says so. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
How do I browse historical roster months? Choose an older date in the calendar to browse your imported history. Historical browsing shows one month at a time, based on the selected month. Select another date to move to a different period. Only available roster data can be shown. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
- Choose your airline and role. Select Cabin Crew, Pilot or Instructor so Avily can show the tools relevant to you. You can change your role later in Settings.
- Connect your roster. If your airline supports eCrew / AIMS, use your staff ID as the username and your existing eCrew / AIMS password. Avily prefills the staff ID when it is already available; check it before continuing. You do not need to create a new AIMS password. If your airline uses a different system, check the available roster options after setup.
- Skip social profiles if you prefer. This step is optional. Choose “Skip for now,” or select the profiles you want to share. You can change these later in My Profile.
- Finish setup and open your schedule. When connected to your airline’s supported roster system, roster loading starts after you continue to the dashboard. Keep Avily open and stay connected until the import finishes. Open My Roster or the calendar button to see your roster board. Switch to My Events for the chronological list.
- Open a duty. Check its date, times and details. Then try My Friends, My Layovers or My Memories from the dashboard.
Export your roster to Calendar
How do I export my roster to Apple Calendar? After importing your roster, choose Add / Update Avily Calendar to save the imported months to a dedicated Avily Calendar, or Add / Update Schedule in Calendar to choose a writable calendar. You can also export the displayed month from My Roster or My Events: on iPhone, open the More menu and choose Export Month to Calendar or Add / Update Avily Calendar. Allow Calendar access when asked. This is a new feature; availability depends on your installed build.
Will exporting again update my calendar without duplicates? Export the same month again to the same calendar after refreshing your roster. Avily updates matching exports, adds new duties and removes its tracked cancelled exports for those months. Choose the same destination to update your existing copies. Run Add / Update again when your roster changes; this is an export action, not a live calendar subscription.
Why do exported calendar times look different? Timed duties keep their actual instants, but Apple Calendar displays them using Calendar’s time zone, which may differ from your Avily display setting. Days off stay all-day entries. If export is blocked, allow Calendar access for Avily in Settings and choose a writable calendar. If Avily Calendar cannot be created, enable a calendar account or choose another calendar.
Find the tools for your role
Understand the Avily Free allowance: the free plan includes 30 stored photo and linked-file slots. Every saved photo counts, including training-record photos, and linked flight or training-event files count too. Imported events and training-record documents do not consume slots by themselves. Open Membership to see usage and remaining capacity. Tap Restore Purchases there to recover a membership bought with the same Apple account.
Browse training records by month: use the left and right arrows to move one month at a time, or tap the displayed month and year to choose another month directly. Search and filters apply to the selected month.
Calculate missing remuneration months: Monthly Totals first shows the payment records already saved. Tap Refresh to scan available training events and create missing months while preserving existing totals.
Read cabin crew rank badges: crew cards use the imported rank code and label. FB means Food & Beverage Manager and uses a fork-and-knife symbol with premium-cabin styling. Other displayed ranks include CM, CS, FC, FJ for Business Class and FA for Flight Attendant.
Read instructor and observer badges: confirmed instructors use an Instructor label, star and four stripes. An imported qualification can appear in brackets, such as Instructor (SE) for Senior Examiner. Observer identifies an observing instructor for that event.
Use trainee-card actions: in a training record, tap the trainee card to view crew history, add or edit pilot details, or send an email when the pilot directory contains an address. The card uses the staff ID and event rank for that training session.
Instructor membership: Training Files, Monthly Totals and opening or editing EBT Grading Assistant entries require the instructor-tools membership feature. If access is unavailable, Avily opens Membership so you can review the available plan or restore an existing purchase.
Use an interactive check-day briefing sheet: tap checklist boxes to mark the briefing package, health and safety, presentation, documents, motion, video and headset. Tap Starting Position, Non-Tech Options or Technical Options to edit that row for the current check, paste from Notes, or save one row or all three as semester defaults. Tap an option to mark it selected. Observing instructors appear in the header when available. If saving fails, your edits remain available so you can try again.
Export flights to LogTen Pro: open the LogTen export, choose a date range, review the included flights and tap Export to LogTen Pro. Multi-month ranges are supported. Avily maps available imported roles, including PIC, SIC and observer or jumpseat-instructor duties. After a successful handoff, the button says Opened in LogTen Pro. Review the records in LogTen Pro before saving them. Availability depends on your role, installed Avily build and having LogTen Pro installed.
Recognize a positioning duty: on the roster board, a deadhead duty uses a DHD badge while keeping its flight number visible.
What does DHD mean on a duty or crew member? DHD means deadhead or positioning. A deadhead duty is labelled DHD in the roster and opens Deadhead Details. A crew member’s DHD badge reflects the imported status for that sector; it does not automatically carry over to an operating return sector. Availability depends on your airline’s roster data and your installed build.
How do I record takeoffs and landings? Open the flight’s notes and expand Operational Items. Select Pilot Flying for the relevant sector to show the separate day/night takeoff and landing counters, then adjust the counts. RETO is shown only for B777 aircraft. These entries are recorded per sector. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
How do dashboard routes and day markers work? Dashboard routes show the ordered sectors, including intermediate airports. A +1 time marker means the next calendar day relative to the displayed reporting day, or departure day when reporting is unavailable; the selected display time zones are used. Simulator session times are separate from the duty’s report and checkout times, which may include briefing and debriefing. Missing session times are shown as unavailable. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
Cabin Crew
Start with your duty dashboard and roster board. See upcoming duties, open available crew and hotel details, explore layover recommendations and keep your travel photos together. Use My Friends for personal connections and messages.
Pilots
Use the roster board and flight details for schedules, crew information, notes and photo attachments. Explore destinations and layovers, and export supported flight data to LogTen. Check imported details before relying on an export.
Instructors
Alongside the shared schedule and crew features, eligible instructor profiles have tools for trainees, training records, training flights and simulator events. The Training area includes the EBT Grading Assistant, Training Devices and instructor/examiner lists. Remuneration tools are available for eligible instructor profiles, depending on your airline. Review assistant-generated grading before using it.
Avily on Apple Watch
Avily for Apple Watch syncs your current month’s roster from your paired iPhone. Check your report countdown, monthly schedule and duty timeline, plus crew and layover details when available. You can toggle report reminders and press and hold a reminder to choose how early it alerts you. If the schedule is missing or out of date, open Avily on your nearby iPhone and tap Refresh on the watch. Watch features depend on your installed beta build and available roster data.
Connect with friends and crew
Track friend requests: open My Friends and select Requests. Incoming and Sent requests are shown separately. Open a pending sent request to resend the invitation if needed.
How do I change my profile picture or avatar? Open your profile’s basic information and tap Change photo or avatar. Choose a photo, symbol or initials. Photos use a square center crop, and your picture appears in friends, flights and crew lists. Choose Initials to remove your shared photo. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
How do I send a photo or PDF in chat? In a direct or group chat, tap the attachment button and choose a photo or PDF up to 20 MB. You can preview or remove it before sending, and send it with or without text. Tap an attachment in a message to open it. If it is not available yet, check your connection and try again. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
Find a friend: open My Friends, choose Add Friend and enter their exact staff ID. They become your friend after accepting the request. The recipient must allow new contacts.
Keep your roster private: finding friends, sending requests and chatting do not require roster sharing. You control schedule sharing separately. Review both the general sharing switch and each friend’s sharing setting.
Start a crew group: in the chat directory, use the add button to create a group from an available flight or duty. Upcoming roster duties are included so you can reach crew before departure. Available recipients depend on crew data and their contact settings.
Read a message: unread indicators help identify new messages. Opening a conversation marks its loaded messages read. Read-state synchronization between devices is a beta feature; both devices need the updated build and an opportunity to sync.
Make the most of a layover
Choose which layovers to browse: My Layovers shows hotels from your own imported roster and manually added stays. All Layovers also includes hotels available through the synced crew directory; those shared entries do not become part of your personal layover history.
Open My Layovers or an available hotel from your duty. Explore recommendations for that destination, open a map card for details, and swipe cards to locate different venues.
Set a wake-up: the alarm picker uses your phone’s time zone. Before setting it, check that your phone’s date, time and time zone match local time. Alarm behavior depends on your iOS version and granted permissions; check the app’s confirmation.
Keep and share your memories
Import photos from Apple Photos: select one or several pictures in Apple Photos, tap Share and choose Avily. If the share screen offers the correct cached flight or training event, select it and continue; Avily adds the photos to that event. Otherwise confirm the Event date and tap Search. Avily searches that date and the two preceding days. If Photos did not provide a usable date, choose it yourself—Avily will not guess. Flights and training events appear together chronologically. Expand a training event to choose an event file, event photo, training-record photo or, for an eligible check day, record photo plus licence. Confirm the destination and save. You can also open the flight’s photo gallery and tap Library.
Find flight photos with Smart Search: open the flight and its photo gallery, then tap Smart Search. Avily starts with pictures from ±2 days around the flight date; adjust the range if needed, select a picture and tap Add. When a layover follows the flight, Avily may offer the flight or layover as the destination. Allow Photos access when asked; Smart Search stays on your device.
How does My World work? Open My World to see your visited airports and countries on a 3D globe. Routes appear as raised arcs, and ringed airports contain flight or layover memories. Drag to spin the globe, pinch or use the controls to zoom, tap an airport to open its memories, and use reset to return to your home-base view. Tap the map/globe button to switch between the 3D globe and flat map; Avily remembers your selected view. This describes the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
How do I attach a PDF or image to an event? Use Open in Avily or share a supported PDF or image to Avily, then choose the correct date and flight or training event. To add several photos together, select them in Photos and share them to Avily. Choose the destination once for the selected photos. Check the displayed photo count and any warning about photos that could not be read before saving. Images can be saved to event photos or as an event file. PDFs are event files. Confirm the destination before saving; if saving fails, retry rather than assuming the attachment was added. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
Why will an event attachment not open? An event file’s details can appear before its contents are available on this device. If it was saved on another device, check iCloud Drive and try again. For an older broken attachment, share the original file to Avily again. An “attached successfully” message confirms the save, not that every device has downloaded the file. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
Can I change the logo and text on a shared image? In the share-image editor, adjust Avily Logo Size and use Promotional Text Below Logo to choose a preset or enter your own text. You can also choose no promotional text. Review the finished image before sharing. These features describe the latest development build; your installed TestFlight version may differ.
Add your own photos: open a flight, training-flight or simulator event and use its photo attachment area to take a photo or choose one from your library.
Send a Crew Drop: use Crew Drop from the relevant photo or event screen and choose eligible recipients. Delivery requires the photo to finish syncing.
Receive a Crew Drop: Downloaded received Crew Drops remain available in My Memories → Crew Drops. In the latest development build, matching photos are also added to your regular flight, training-event or layover memory collection. Unmatched photos remain in Crew Drops. Later moves are preserved. Your installed TestFlight version may differ.
No flight offered? Tap Save to Photos on the received image. Then open the correct flight or training event and add that image from your library. Saving does not remove the received Crew Drop.
Move photos between memories: In the latest development build, open My Memories, press and hold a photo and choose Move to Layover or Move to Flight. Select any additional photos from the same memory, tap Move (the number selected), then choose the destination. Photos that cannot be moved stay in the original memory. Your installed TestFlight version may not include this yet.
Invite someone to Avily
Tap the QR-code button at the upper left of the dashboard. The invite screen lets a colleague scan the download code or lets you share the link. The current invitation uses TestFlight; the App Store link will replace it when configured for release.
If setup does not work
Why does my import say it could not verify UTC? Avily checks that the AIMS schedule response uses UTC before importing its times. If you see “Could not verify UTC in AIMS,” no new roster was imported by that attempt. Check your connection, keep Avily open and try the import again. If it keeps failing, contact support with your app build and the affected month. Changing the schedule display time zone does not replace this import check. This describes the latest development build.
- Staff ID is blank: enter it manually. A fresh account may not have a saved profile to prefill.
- Password is rejected: check that you entered your existing eCrew / AIMS credentials and use the offered credential-review option.
- Download stops: check your connection and use Retry Download. If it still fails, send a screenshot and describe the last step that worked.
- Roster or crew is missing: report the affected date and flight or duty. Do not select an unrelated event just to attach a photo.
Help us test
Try completing setup without assistance, opening your roster, sending a friend request and exchanging a Crew Drop. If you use two devices, also check read-state synchronization.
Use TestFlight feedback or email info@avily.app. Include your app build, device, iOS version, role, steps taken, expected result and actual result. Include a screenshot if useful; leave passwords out of feedback and screenshots.
Recent beta changes needing real-device testing include onboarding, cross-device read states, historical-event Crew Drops and wake-up alarms. Please report anything that does not work as described in your version.
